We have an exciting line up of camps for Summer 2022!

In-person LEGO STEM camps at Dovercourt and the Soloway Jewish Community Centre are already full.  Our in-person camps are filling up at the Old Ottawa South Firehall, and registration for our City of Ottawa recreation centre camps will open at 9 pm on May 11, 2022.  

We are pleased to announce a partnership with Kanata Montessori, where we'll be delivering our specialty LEGO camps for 7 & 8 year olds and 9-13 year olds for multiple weeks this summer. Dates are posted and these are filling very quickly. On June 25, we added more camp spots for ages 7-8. 

For those who want a stay-at-home camp experience this summer, we are offering week-long, half-day Virtual LEGO STEM Adventures Camp through the City of Ottawa.

LEGO® Engineering Camp             Ages 7-8             Ages 9-13
Half days with Orange STEM Education, Ottawa’s leader in LEGO Robotics and Engineering. You will learn LEGO Technic building skills, engineering principles, teamwork and organization. Hands-on projects will bring machines to life using motors and gears, and you will build pre-programmed Mindstorm® robots, and perform challenges. Half days with Kanata Camps staff on STEM focused activities in and around their MAKER Space.

You will build a selection of Mindstorm robots with legs, wheels and treads, and their task-related attachments. Using tablets, you will program sensor-driven robots to line-follow, navigate mazes and perform daily challenges. Half days with Kanata Camps staff on STEM focused activities in and around their MAKER Space.

LEGO® Mechanical Engineering & Robotics

Join Ottawa’s very own “LEGO Guy” Ian Dudley of Orange STEM Education for hands-on LEGO Technic projects and challenges.  Campers will strengthen their LEGO building skills and their understanding of engineering principles plus learn about strong and stable structures, as well as gearing and drive systems.  While building LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots campers will learn the basics of EV3 programming with tablets to perform mini-challenges with their robots. A variety of camp games, activities and a daily swim complete the week of programming.

Virtual Summer Camps 2022

CITY OF OTTAWA  

LEGO® STEM Adventures     

Build real and virtual LEGO projects at home using the new LEGO Technic set provided and your computer. Learn LEGO building techniques as you construct several mechanical Technic projects. Develop your own Technic project. Learn to use LEGO Studio 2.0, a LEGO CAD program, as you build a variety of virtual engineering and architecture projects. Build a virtual LEGO Minecraft project. Create online instructions for your own Technic build. Render your virtual LEGO projects to look incredibly real. Virtually build a Mindstorms® EV3 or NXT robot. Learn to code and simulate robot sounds and movements online. Perform maze navigation as well as object and colour detection challenges. Learn about electronic concepts, components and circuits, and breadboard in a safe virtual environment.

You will need a PC or Mac, laptop or desktop computer (not a Chromebook) to run Studio 2.0 and connect to Zoom, and you will need to download and install Studio 2.0 prior to the first class. More information provided upon registration. Includes your own LEGO® Technic set - available for pickup before the start of camp.

LEGO® Junior Robotics & Coding       (Ages 7-8) 

With a partner, build smart Power Functions machines, and Ian's unique Mindstorms® EV3 robots. Solve challenges using tablet-based coding; program your robot's sounds, lights, screen images, and movements.

 

LEGO® Electronics         (Ages 7-8   OR   Ages  9-14)                 
LEGO engineering with a focus on electronics!  Learn about electronics concepts, components and systems. Use a modular circuit building tool to create circuits that will power LEGO machines and projects.
